Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how LangMemo ("we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the LangMemo mobile application and website (the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

• Account information — email address and password (stored as a secure hash), and optional profile details such as a display name.
• Study content — the libraries, decks, and cards you create, including text, translations, notes, photos you capture or upload, and audio recordings you make.
• Review activity — your answers and review history, used to schedule when cards reappear.
• Device and log data — app version, device type, operating system, language settings, and crash logs.
• What we do NOT collect — we do not collect your location, contacts, or browsing history, and we do not access your camera, microphone, or photo library except when you actively use a capture feature.

2. How We Use Information

We use your information to operate the Service: syncing your study content across devices, scheduling reviews, generating translations and audio for your cards, localizing the app, fixing bugs, and providing support. We do not sell your information.

3. How We Share Information

3.1 With other users

LangMemo is a personal study tool. Your libraries, cards, and review history are private to your account and are not visible to other users.

3.2 With service providers

We use a small number of sub-processors to run the Service: Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage), Cloudflare Pages (website hosting), Expo (app builds and updates), and AI providers used solely to process content you submit for translation, text recognition, or audio generation. Each processes your data only as needed to provide their service.

3.3 For legal reasons

We may disclose information if required by law, or as necessary to protect safety, prevent fraud, or enforce our Terms.

4. Camera, Photos & Microphone

Capture features use your device's camera, photo library, and microphone only when you actively invoke them, with your permission, and never in the background. Captured images and recordings are stored as your private study content.

5. Push Notifications

If you enable notifications, we store a push token to remind you when reviews are due. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings; tokens are cleared on logout.

6. Data Retention

Your study content is retained while your account is active. When you delete your account, your account record and study content (including stored photos and audio) are permanently deleted within 30 days, except where retention is legally required.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You may access, correct, export, or delete your data at any time — most actions are available directly in the app (Settings → Account), and you can also email privacy@langmemo.app. Depending on your region (including the EEA/UK and California), you may have additional statutory rights, including the right to object to or restrict certain processing and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

8. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

9. International Data Transfers

Our infrastructure is hosted in the United States. Where required, transfers of personal data from other regions rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

10. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to your content is protected by row-level security so only your authenticated account can read it. Report vulnerabilities to security@langmemo.app.

11. Changes to This Policy

We will update this page and its "Last updated" date when our practices change materially, and notify you in the app where appropriate.
